Sketching and finding inspiration at the Banksia Street wetlands

A few weeks ago some of us visited the Banskia Street wetlands to pursue the idea of 'refugia' and do some sketching and nature loving. The wetlands are a recent development and it is hard to believe that a couple of years ago the site was a flat bit of undeveloped grassy land with some old tennis courts on it.

This is a refuge for wildlife in the area, but also for locals who can walk, wander, sketch and ponder -activities which we observed happening during our visit.

Edwina was involved in creating the wetlands environment

In October we will be exhibiting our work at the Watson Arts Centre. Watch this space for more on the development of 'Refugia' with Marsden Arts Group.

Finished collage

As an artist, works often seem unfinished or incomplete.  I think it needs a motif in the top left corner.  What about a Christmas Beetle?

Collage - is it real art?

Inspired by a triptych in a Braidwood gallery, Edwina Robinson tried her hand at collage, using the eucalypt motif derived from Namatjira's paintings, watercolour and ink grasses, scribbles echoing bark texture and brown paper.

In the style of Albert Namatjira

Edwina Robinson finds that one way of extending her technique is to observe the work of famous landscape artists, like Albert Namatjira.
Edwina Robinson is a self taught artist who dabbles in landscapes and patterns.  She likes to experiment with watercolour, waterproof ink, acrylic and collage.

Forthcoming Exhibitions by Marsden Art Group members

Welcome to our Blog!

This blog represents an exciting new step for Marsden Art Group. We want to get our work and ideas 'out there' as much as possible and this foray into the fabulous world of the world wide web is one we have been wanting to take for a while.

Here are a few tantalising pictures of some of our work and artists.

Enjoy.
